Community Helpers Preschool Centers The Community Helpers Preschool Centers packet contains a collection of printable activities for use with children in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten (Prep). Contents and Directions for Use Following is an outline of the activities included in this unit and suggestions for preparation and use. 1. Community helper and vehicle write and wipe pre-writing tracing practice (3 pages) To prepare the pre-writing tracing page for use, print and then laminate it for durability. Using a white board (dry-erase) marker, children are required to trace the path on the page. Alternatively, you can glue some sand on the tracing path and have your kiddos trace along with their finger, or get them to place small beads along the path. 2. Firefighter upper and lower case letter match (3 pages) To prepare the activity for use, print and then laminate the pages for durability. Cut out all the pieces. The aim of this activity is for children to match the upper and lower case letters. 3. Library beginning sounds match (13 pages) To prepare the activity for use, print and then laminate the pages for durability. Cut out all the pieces. Attach clear 4 velcro dots to each bookcase and to the backs of each book. The aim of this activity is for children to match the beginning sound pictures to the correct bookcase. 4. Community helper syllables (3 pages) To prepare the cards for use, print, laminate them for durability and then cut them apart. Provide children with some small clothes pegs. The aim of this activity is for children to identify the number of syllables for each picture and show their answer by clipping a peg on the corresponding number on the card. 5. Detective CVC word match (4 pages) To prepare the cards for use, print, laminate them for durability and then cut them out. The aim of this activity is for children to match the CVC word on the detective’s hat to the magnifying glass with the correct picture. 6.
